The Public Relations Directorate at the National Social Security Fund announced that, "despite the unprecedented pressures facing the health and social sectors as a result of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, the Fund’s administration continues to carry out its duties toward hospitals and doctors."
In a statement, it explained that "in less than fifteen days, the Fund’s Director-General, Mohammad Karaki, issued a new decision dated 29/4/2026, numbered 246, providing for the payment of financial advances to hospitals and doctors contracted with the Fund, amounting to about LBP 322 billion. This comes in view of the essential role this sector is playing at this critical stage. These advances were allocated to cover 5,050 hospitalization claims for insured persons who had received treatment at the Fund’s expense, with the aim of easing the financial burden on them on the one hand and ensuring the continued admission of medical cases in hospitals on the other."
The directorate stressed that "according to the available data, the total amount paid by the Fund to cover hospitalization expenses alone (excluding dialysis) since the beginning of the current year has reached about LBP 1,602 billion, in a clear indication of the administration’s commitment to keeping pace with the challenges and strengthening the resilience of the health system in the face of successive crises."
