Omani Foreign Minister بدر البوسعيدي affirmed that his country is engaged in intensive diplomatic efforts to reach long-term arrangements that guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that Muscat is working in coordination with Iran and the international community to secure one of the world’s most vital maritime passages.
Al-Busaidi explained that the Sultanate of Oman views the stability of the strait as both a regional and international responsibility, and that it continues to contribute to formulating solutions that preserve maritime security and ease the escalating tensions in the Gulf.
Speaking about the sources of threats to Gulf security, the Omani foreign minister said the risks do not stem solely from within the region, but are also linked to decisions and policies originating from outside it, pointing to what he described as the impact of Israeli moves on the region’s stability.
Al-Busaidi described the recent war as a "catastrophe," stressing that it was not based on a UN mandate and did not achieve the objectives announced at its outset. At the same time, he called for a review of the nature of the relationship with the United States in a manner consistent with the new strategic shifts revealed by recent developments.
He stressed that the coming phase requires a different approach to international relations in the region, one based on balance, the protection of shared interests, and ensuring the security of vital passages away from escalation.
