
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa held a phone call today with the President of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the latest political and security developments in the region, and ways to strengthen joint cooperation in support of Syria’s stability and to help advance the path of economic recovery in the coming period.
Al-Sharaa stressed the importance of continued international support for Syria during the reconstruction and recovery phase, noting that lifting the remaining sanctions represents a fundamental step toward enabling the Syrian economy to regain its momentum and improve living conditions for citizens.
He also emphasized that this would encourage investment and create a suitable environment for the return of economic and development projects across various vital sectors.
The call also addressed the security situation in the region and the challenges arising from regional tensions, as the president stressed the importance of prioritizing the diplomatic track and dialogue in a way that would enhance regional security and peace and spare the region further escalation.
For his part, President Trump expressed his interest in following developments in Syria and the region, underscoring the importance of preserving stability and supporting the path of recovery and reconstruction in Syria.
