President Joseph Aoun received a phone call this evening from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who congratulated him on the success of the efforts he had made to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon, expressing the hope that “this will mark the beginning of a new phase in which stability is consolidated in Lebanon and the state extends its authority over all its territory through the Lebanese Army and security forces.” The Greek prime minister also expressed “his country’s support for Lebanon and its people and Greece’s readiness to help alleviate the suffering of the friendly Lebanese people.”
President Aoun thanked Prime Minister Mitsotakis for “his supportive positions toward Lebanon and its people,” stressing “the continuation of the negotiating track in line with the initiative he had announced, the first phase of which began today with the ceasefire.”
