The daily cabinet meeting was held at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, along with several ministers, to review the needs of refugees and coordinate requirements for shelter and relief.
Following the meeting, Minister of Information Dr. Paul Merage announced that “Prime Minister Salam, after briefing the attendees on the latest developments, renewed his gratitude to the countries that have provided financial or in-kind assistance.”
He noted during the meeting that in-kind aid is arriving by sea or air under the supervision of the relevant Lebanese ministries, and with the assistance of shipping companies this time, due to the challenges currently affecting maritime and air navigation in the region.
Minister Merage added that “the Prime Minister emphasized the urgent humanitarian Flash Appeal launched yesterday at the Grand Serail, with the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, to mobilize international support for Lebanon. He praised this initiative, which aims to bolster Lebanon’s growing needs in providing both relief and shelter for refugees.”
The Prime Minister also reviewed ongoing efforts to secure fuel supplies with the Minister of Energy and Water, maintain communications with the Minister of Telecommunications, and coordinate emergency and response plans across various ministries.
