
Lebanese Labor Minister Dr. Mohammad Haidar discussed with his Jordanian counterpart, Minister of Transport and Labor Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin, in the Jordanian capital Amman, ways to strengthen cooperation between the labor ministries of the two countries, during a meeting attended by the chargé d’affaires at the Lebanese Embassy to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Consul Joel Anton, and the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Labor, Dr. Abdul Halim Dujan.
The discussions focused on setting the executive steps for the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, in a way that contributes to developing mechanisms for joint coordination and exchanging expertise and experiences in line with the requirements of the Lebanese and Jordanian labor markets.
The meeting also addressed areas of cooperation in vocational and technical training, enhancing occupational safety and health standards, developing self-employment programs, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and projects, in addition to discussing ways to strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities and integrate them into the labor market.
Minister Haidar stressed the importance of moving from the framework of understandings to practical, implementable steps, emphasizing the need for continued coordination between the two ministries in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and enhances the exchange of knowledge and expertise on shared issues.
For his part, Minister Al-Qatamin underscored Jordan’s interest in developing relations with Lebanon on various labor issues, affirming the importance of building on existing understandings and expanding areas of cooperation in ways that benefit the Lebanese and Jordanian peoples.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to complete the necessary procedures to form the joint committee between the two ministries, with its first meeting to be held in Beirut in the presence of both ministers, in response to the official invitation extended by Minister Haidar to his Jordanian counterpart to visit Lebanon in the coming period.
