While information obtained by Nidaa Al-Watan indicates that the likelihood of President Joseph Aoun visiting the White House is increasing, particularly amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s insistence on ending the Lebanese war and moving toward a genuine peace, an official source told Nidaa Al-Watan that all talk of Aoun rejecting or accepting Trump’s mediation for a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House is "inaccurate." The matter, the source said, has not yet been officially raised, and when it is, President Aoun will study it and make the decision that serves the national interest.
The source stressed that Lebanon is moving forward with negotiations and that nothing will halt this course. As for the form and level of the negotiations, that may be determined in the coming days and by the direction events take, but what is certain is that the file is on the right track and there will be no turning back.
