Official Correction in New York: Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry Reaffirms the Identity of Mahjar Writers

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants issued the following statement:

“The efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, in coordination with the relevant authorities in New York, have resulted in the removal of the current identification plaque for the Al Qalam project (Al Qalam: Poets in the Park), which had included an inaccurate description of the identity of the leading Lebanese Mahjar writers and poets.

The ministry was informed that the old plaque has been removed and will be replaced with a new one bearing corrected text that affirms the Lebanese identity of these writers, who represent a literary and civilizational legacy deeply rooted in the national memory.”
