The Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, in remarks delivered from Baabda Palace, affirmed his support for the efforts made by the President of the Republic in leading the Lebanese state amid the delicate circumstances facing the country, stressing the importance of strengthening national stability and supporting residents of the border areas.
Al-Rahi said:
“We express our appreciation to President Joseph Aoun for his work in leading the Lebanese state, and we support every step he takes for the good of Lebanon. We also support the Lebanese Army and its commander.”
“I heard reassuring words from President Aoun.”
“We support the Christians of the border areas, as they are the protective fence of Lebanon along the borders. They are an essential part of this nation, and therefore we respect them, defend them, and encourage them.”
“I will contact the Maronite Archbishop of Tyre, Bishop Charbel Abdallah, and ask him to reside in the town of Rmeish as a representative of the Patriarch.”
