Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin are being affected by a moderately active low-pressure system, accompanied by relatively cold air masses centered over southeastern Turkey, bringing unsettled weather and occasional rain, along with a drop in temperatures to below seasonal averages and active winds. The system is expected to persist until Thursday evening, when it will gradually subside, though some local fluctuations will remain, with temperatures staying below average until next week due to the flow of relatively cold air masses into our region.
The Meteorological Service said that “the average temperatures for the month of May are between 18 and 27 degrees in Beirut, between 15 and 25 in Tripoli, and between 13 and 27 degrees in Zahle.”
Expected weather in Lebanon:
- Thursday: Partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy, with a drop in temperatures and dense fog over the highlands. Scattered rain is expected, with a chance of thunder and lightning, especially before noon. Winds will also become active, causing sea waves to rise. Rain will gradually ease from the evening, with wide clear spells developing.
- Friday: Partly cloudy, with temperatures rising over the mountains, inland areas, and the south, while remaining largely unchanged along the rest of the coast, with fog continuing over the highlands. Light scattered rain is expected in the morning, especially in northern areas.
- Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a slight drop in temperatures and fog over the highlands, keeping them below seasonal averages. Drizzle is expected intermittently, especially in northern areas during the morning. The weather will stabilize during the day and turn partly clear by the afternoon.
- Sunday: Generally slightly cloudy, with temperatures falling, especially in mountainous, inland, and southern areas, along with local fog over the highlands, making for relatively cool spring weather.
