
The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross warned of grave repercussions if war were to flare up again in Iran, stressing that the lives of millions of civilians would be in immediate danger.
She noted that more than one million people were forced to flee in Lebanon within just a few weeks as a result of the war, at a time when vast residential neighborhoods were destroyed, further worsening the humanitarian crisis.
She also stressed the need to protect medical and humanitarian teams working on the ground, pointing to casualties among Red Crescent personnel in Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon during the ongoing conflicts, reflecting the scale of the dangers facing humanitarian workers.
