The Sidon Municipality’s media office issued the following statement:
"As part of its ongoing campaign to preserve public cleanliness and the city’s civilized appearance, and in implementation of the applicable regulations and laws, Sidon Municipality announces the start of strict legal measures against anyone who randomly dumps waste in streets and on public roads.
In this context, the Sidon Municipal Police Command today referred an official letter, after receiving a report documented with photos and video from a citizen on 19/5/2026, stating that the driver of a silver Toyota Yaris had thrown garbage onto the public road, in conduct that reflects a lack of environmental responsibility and civic awareness.
Accordingly, an immediate letter was prepared to be submitted to the Governor of South Lebanon, requesting that instructions be given to the commander of the South Regional District in the Internal Security Forces to take the necessary legal measures against the violator, including his arrest, the filing of an official violation report against him, and the implementation of the appropriate legal action.
Sidon Municipality highly values the community awareness and responsible spirit shown by citizens who reject such offensive behavior and contribute to documenting and reporting it, stressing that the city’s streets and neighborhoods are public property and not a dumping ground for waste or an open space for violations.
The municipality also stresses that remaining silent about these practices harms the public interest and undermines the daily efforts made by cleaning crews and municipal teams to preserve the city’s cleanliness and its civilized image.
Sidon Municipality warns all citizens, residents, and drivers against throwing any waste or refuse from vehicle windows or in places not designated for it, affirming that the municipal police, in cooperation with the security agencies, will continue to pursue violators and issue violation reports and fines against anyone proven to be involved in committing these environmental offenses."
