Abdullah Thanks Salam: Iqlim al-Kharroub Appreciates Support for Judge Al-Hajj’s Appointment and Stresses the Primacy of the State and Merit

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received Democratic Gathering MP Bilal Abdullah, who said after the meeting:

"I had the honor today of meeting with His Excellency the Prime Minister, and more than one issue was on the agenda. To begin with, it was necessary to extend thanks to His Excellency on behalf of my people in Iqlim al-Kharroub, and in particular the people of my town, Aanout, for his support, backing, and insistence on appointing Judge Ahmad Rami Al-Hajj as Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation.

This position is appreciated by the people of Iqlim al-Kharroub, and appreciated by this region, which believes in the state, believes in merit, and believes in patriotism above all instincts and sectarian loyalties. In our view, this stance by His Excellency the Prime Minister—and certainly thanks are also due to His Excellency the President and to all the ministers—reflects a clear determination on the part of the Prime Minister on this matter. I wanted to convey to him the greetings of our people in Iqlim al-Kharroub, and especially, as I said, the town of Aanout in particular."
