The National Federation of Workers' and Employees' Unions said on Friday that the working class had triumphed following a ruling by the International Court of Justice on the right to strike under Convention No. 87.
In a statement, it said the ruling enshrines the right to organize and to strike, particularly for public sector employees, noting that an international circular included the full text of the advisory opinion.
According to the ruling, the right of workers and their organizations to strike is protected under the 1948 Convention on Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise, while clarifying that this does not definitively determine the conditions or scope of the exercise of that right.
