Pakistan’s information minister said that “the official response from Iran regarding confirmation of its delegation’s participation in the Islamabad talks is still pending,” noting that diplomatic efforts are continuing to ensure the new round of talks is held.
The minister explained that “Pakistan, in its capacity as mediator, is in constant contact with the Iranians and is striving hard to pursue a diplomatic approach.”
Regarding the ceasefire deadline, he said: “The ceasefire ends at 4:50 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Pakistan time,” while stressing at the same time the importance of an Iranian decision before the deadline expires. He pointed out that “Iran’s decision to participate in the talks before the ceasefire period ends is extremely important.”
The minister added that efforts are ongoing to advance the negotiating track, saying: “We have made intensive efforts to persuade the Iranian leadership to participate in the second round, and those efforts are continuing.”
