The New York Times, citing three Iranian officials, revealed that Tehran has agreed to a memorandum of understanding that would halt the fighting and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic.
According to the leaks, the proposed agreement includes ending confrontations on various fronts, in addition to releasing about $25 billion in Iranian assets frozen abroad.
The sources also indicated that the proposed understanding stipulates postponing discussions on Iran’s nuclear file to a later stage, in a move described as paving the way for broader understandings in the coming period.
