China called on the United States and Iran to continue moving closer and to make mutual concessions in order to shore up the fragile ceasefire in the Middle East and bring the war to an end.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said his country hopes that "the parties concerned will meet each other halfway," expressing Beijing’s support for diplomatic efforts and ongoing mediation, particularly those led by Pakistan.
Wang added, in remarks at the UN Security Council, that China is continuing to coordinate with the main parties involved in the crisis, stressing the need to respect the truce and work to restore stability to the region.
The Chinese minister’s remarks came as Tehran accused Washington of violating the ceasefire, following US attacks targeting missile sites and Iranian boats in the south of the country.
