
The Ministry of Public Health issued the following statement:
“As part of efforts to strengthen the national emergency response, Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine handed over a grant of five fully equipped ambulances to the Director General of Civil Defense, Brigadier General Imad Khreiss. The donation was provided by the sisterly Republic of Iraq for the benefit of the Lebanese Civil Defense.
The handover ceremony took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Bir Hassan in the presence of several officials and stakeholders involved in the health and relief sectors.
Enhancing Emergency Capabilities
During the handover, Minister Nassereddine emphasized that this initiative comes within the framework of ongoing coordination with Iraq and aims to enhance the readiness of Lebanon’s emergency medical sector amid the current circumstances. He noted that these ambulances will constitute a qualitative addition to the Civil Defense fleet, contributing to faster field response and saving lives across various Lebanese regions.
Gratitude and Appreciation
For his part, Brigadier General Imad Khreiss thanked the Ministry of Public Health for its continuous support, praising the brotherly stance of the Republic of Iraq in standing by Lebanon and its Civil Defense. He affirmed that the vehicles will be immediately put into service to strengthen the capacity of personnel and volunteers to carry out their humanitarian duties amid the state of emergency facing the country.
Complementary Roles
This step comes as part of the central emergency plan led by the Ministry of Public Health to distribute logistical resources to the emergency agencies most in need, ensuring the integration of roles between the official health sector and relief and care organizations.”
