Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari stressed the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to reach a sustainable settlement, affirming that Doha is calling for joint action to secure a lasting peace agreement that guarantees the region’s stability. He emphasized that resolving crises must be regional in nature and involve all Gulf states.
At a press conference, Al-Ansari said his country supports the mediation efforts led by Pakistan, alongside broad regional coordination to back the negotiating track, noting that intensive contacts among regional parties are continuing to ensure the success of de-escalation efforts.
He added that “the priority at the current stage is to consolidate the ceasefire and turn it into a lasting peace,” stressing the rejection of threatening rhetoric and the need to handle all developments in a way that guarantees the security and safety of the state.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he stressed that the crisis there is emergent rather than historical, calling for it to be resolved through cooperation among the littoral states, while underscoring that the continued flow of global trade through the strait is a vital element of international security.
He also noted that “the Strait of Hormuz has always been a natural passageway without any significant management crises,” warning that any potential repercussions could go beyond energy markets and extend to the global economy.
