Saudi Arabia welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon and affirms its support for extending state sovereignty and restricting arms to the state

The following statement was issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s welcome of the announcement by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, of a ceasefire in brotherly Lebanon. The Kingdom commends the major positive role played by His Excellency President General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, the Lebanese government headed by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament Speaker Mr. Nabih Berri.

The Kingdom reiterates its support for the Lebanese state in extending sovereignty, restricting arms to the state and its legitimate institutions, and for the reform steps it has taken, as well as its efforts to preserve Lebanon’s capabilities and the safety and unity of its territory.”
