In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s concern “over the current military escalation in the region,” calling for “the need for de-escalation, avoiding further escalation, exercising restraint, and supporting Pakistani mediation and diplomatic efforts to reach a political solution that would prevent the region from sliding into further tension and destabilizing security and stability, which serves neither the region’s nor the world’s interests.”
The ministry stressed “the importance of restoring international freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its normal state as it was before February 28,” calling for “ensuring the safe and secure passage of ships without restrictions.”
