Political sources indicated that "there is no turning back from the principle of negotiations, which constitutes a rescue opportunity whose goal was defined by President of the Republic Joseph Aoun as ending the Israeli occupation of southern areas and deploying the army up to the internationally recognized southern border."
The sources told Al-Liwaa newspaper that "the second round is a continuation of the first preliminary round, during which some details will be presented in greater depth and preparations will be made for the negotiations led by former ambassador Simon Karam," announcing that "there is no specific date yet for President Aoun’s visit to Washington, but preparations for it have begun."
They also noted that "Hezbollah read into the President of the Republic’s speech what it wanted and resorted to taking parts of it out of context, even though this sovereign speech focused on the concept of the state for all, prosperity, rationality, and not allowing any Lebanese to die for the sake of others’ influence interests or the calculations of power axes, whether near or far."
