"The time has come to end the war once and for all"... Aoun calls on Europe to support the path of stability and reform in Lebanon

President Joseph Aoun affirmed that the coming phase requires consolidating stability and strengthening the presence of international forces supporting Lebanon, stressing the importance of the continued work of the United Nations Interim Force in the South, or finding an alternative that preserves security and stability should its continuation prove impossible.

President Aoun’s remarks came during his meeting with European Union Ambassador Sandra De Waele, accompanied by a delegation of ambassadors and chargés d’affaires. The meeting addressed local and regional developments, the course of reforms, and the future of the security situation in Lebanon.

President Aoun stressed that:

The continued presence of UNIFIL is the best option in the coming phase, and if that is not possible, an alternative force should be established to take its place.

We call on the European Union to support the implementation of the "framework formula," and Lebanon’s stability is reflected in the stability of the countries of the region.

My meeting with President Trump was fruitful, and the time has come to end the war once and for all.

Lebanon is committed to the path of reforms, and despite the war, we continue to work to achieve what we aspire to.

For her part, European Union Ambassador Sandra De Waele affirmed that Lebanon is going through a pivotal phase, considering that the country stands at the beginning of a new chapter that needs international support to consolidate security and stability and push forward reforms.

She said: "Lebanon stands at a crossroads and at the start of a new chapter, and we support it on the path of security, stability, and reforms."
