Reuters reported, citing a White House official, that former U.S. President Donald Trump threatened a wide military escalation if negotiations with Iran do not succeed.
Trump told his aides that he aims to avoid a never-ending war and to find a diplomatic way out, emphasizing that the expected duration of hostilities would be between 4 to 6 weeks.
He added: “I am ready to listen to Iran, but if they fail, they will face a stronger strike than ever before. The campaign against Iran will end when I decide that our objectives have been achieved.”
Trump clarified that he does not plan to deploy ground troops, but stressed that all options remain on the table.
