Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused what he described as the “Zionist lobby” of being behind incitement to continue and expand the war between Iran and the United States, according to Russia Today.
In a speech delivered today during a meeting of the parliamentary bloc of the Justice and Development Party at the Turkish Parliament in Ankara, he said:
“From the first day of the war on Iran, we have seen the fingerprints of the Zionist lobby in inciting and seeking to continue and expand the war, and over time our assessment has proven correct.”
He added: “Over time, it has become clearer who is inciting the war, who is not interested in ending it, and who is seeking to sabotage the ceasefire.
We expressed our support for the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, but Israeli attacks on Lebanon were the first blow to this understanding and to efforts aimed at ending the war.”
He continued: “We see that tensions in the Strait of Hormuz are increasing over time. If there is peace and stability in the region, it will be achieved despite Israel and its Zionist regime, and those who believe in the idea of Greater Israel there.”
He concluded: “Israel will attempt in every possible way to sabotage the ceasefire in the region and to drag the war back across the entire region,” stressing the “need not to allow Israel to deliberately burn the current ceasefire phase in the region.”
