Banks Association head Salim Sfeir after meeting Aoun: We are committed to partnership to address the banking crisis and restore order to the financial sector

Banks Association head Salim Sfeir said after his meeting with the President of the Republic, alongside a delegation from the association:

We affirmed our full support for His Excellency the President at this delicate stage, and our backing for his national positions aimed at restoring sovereignty, safeguarding national dignity, and preserving stability and security.

We stressed our support for the national decisions taken by His Excellency the President and the government, in a way that restores the prestige of the state, strengthens the extension of its authority, and entrenches respect for and implementation of the laws.

We briefed President Aoun on the difficult challenges facing the banking sector, and stressed the need for cooperation among the relevant ministries, the governorship of Banque du Liban, and the Association of Banks to address the banking crisis and restore regularity to financial and banking operations.

We were pleased by the President of the Republic’s affirmation that addressing the banking crisis is a shared national responsibility that no party can bear alone, which requires a full partnership between the state, the banking sector, and all other concerned parties.
