Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar praised the constructive cooperation between the Central Anti-Narcotics Office of the Judicial Police Unit in the Lebanese Internal Security Forces and Syria’s Anti-Narcotics Department, which led to the arrest of a suspect wanted by the Lebanese judiciary on drug smuggling charges and his subsequent handover to Lebanon in accordance with established procedures.
He also pointed to the dismantling of an international network that had been preparing to smuggle 85 kilograms of narcotics to Kuwait, in coordination with the anti-narcotics departments in Syria and Kuwait.
He stressed “the importance of strengthening joint coordination among the agencies of brotherly Arab states, particularly in the field of combating drugs and maintaining security, given its essential role in protecting Lebanese society and Arab societies,” affirming the continuation of efforts to pursue criminal networks and intensify joint action to combat them.”
