Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh, speaking from Baabda Palace, stated:
“I informed His Excellency the President of my intention to travel to Paris to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Heritage Committee, dedicated to protecting archaeological sites in Lebanon threatened by the war.
We will also take part in the opening of the Byblos exhibition at the Arab World Institute, an occasion to present Lebanon’s position and express its needs, both in terms of diplomatic support and assistance to address the consequences of widespread displacement from southern Lebanon and other areas.
The current circumstances require all parties to set aside preconceived positions to facilitate reaching a ceasefire, which may coincide with mutual conditions among the parties.
The presidential initiative is flexible and can be developed to allow its implementation, with the hope that there will be no internal obstacles, even though the Israeli side has not accepted it yet.”
