MP Razi Al-Hajj, a member of the “Strong Republic” bloc, indicated that “Hezbollah had been calling for the postponement of the parliamentary elections, amending the electoral law, and implementing Taif, because they understood that there is no future for their weapons, which exist outside the state, and because there is a Lebanese decision to place arms exclusively in the hands of the state.”
Al-Hajj said in an interview with LBCI: “We will not accept any gains that undermine the essence of Lebanon’s existence and the establishment of a real state within it, and we want a state capable of implementing reforms.”
He added: “I believe Hezbollah’s ministers will not leave the government, because the government is the one patching up their wounds and covering their costs in this war.”
He also considered that “the government must study a new budget that takes the current circumstances into account, especially regarding spending, so that we do not reach the end of the year without a final account specifying what was spent and how.”
