Parliament’s legislative session saw a series of varied legislative decisions, as the draft law aimed at counting the hours of contract workers and those enlisted in the education sector, in line with the hours stipulated in contracts for the 2025-2026 academic year, failed after it did not secure the approval of the chamber.
By contrast, Parliament approved the draft law aimed at amending the provisions of Article “4 Secondly” of Law No. 289 issued on April 30, 2014, concerning the civil defense system and its organization. It also passed the draft law granting full-time contracted doctors and pharmacists at the State Employees’ Cooperative the right to benefit from the cooperative’s retirement system and social benefits.
Lawmakers also approved the draft law aimed at amending Article 47 of Law No. 479 issued on December 12, 2002, concerning the establishment of a mandatory Order of Nurses in Lebanon, after introducing amendments to it.
In a related context, Parliament decided to refer the draft law aimed at protecting minors from consuming alcoholic beverages and energy drinks to the Administration and Justice Committee, in preparation for studying it and issuing an opinion on it before presenting it again to the General Assembly.
