Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday accused the United States of committing what it described as a “serious violation” of the ceasefire agreement, warning that Tehran will not hesitate to respond to any targeting of its territory or interests.
In an official statement, the ministry said U.S. forces carried out “hostile and illegal activities” in the Hormozgan region, alongside operations targeting Iranian commercial vessels over the past 48 hours, which it labeled as “acts of maritime piracy.”
The statement added that these developments occurred despite the ongoing ceasefire, arguing that their timing—amid a diplomatic track facilitated by Pakistan—reflects “an escalatory approach and a lack of U.S. commitment to existing understandings.”
The Foreign Ministry concluded by strongly condemning the actions, saying they constitute a clear violation of Article 2 of the UN Charter and the ceasefire agreement, holding Washington fully responsible for any resulting consequences.
