U.S. ambassador: Syrian military intervention in Lebanon "makes no sense"

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa affirmed that the meeting between President Joseph Aoun and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington was positive, noting that both sides reviewed various issues of mutual interest.

In a statement to Al-Jadeed TV, Issa denied any U.S. support for reports of a Syrian military intervention against Hezbollah inside Lebanon. Responding to a question on the matter, he said: "We are certain that such involvement makes no sense, and Secretary Rubio does not support it."
