The Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held contacts with a number of foreign ministers from countries in the region, stressing that the instability in the region is caused by what he described as “American and Israeli aggression.”
The contacts included Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and Azerbaijan.
Araghchi explained during these contacts that a new round of negotiations had begun under Pakistani mediation.
He also stressed that Iran is entering this round “in good faith to end the war despite the lack of trust in Washington.”
He affirmed that his country is ready to continue along the diplomatic track “if Washington tones down its threatening rhetoric.”
He expressed appreciation for what he described as the constructive role of some countries in the region in following up on the diplomatic track, praising their efforts in “preventing the dangerous repercussions of any new military aggression.”
He concluded by stressing that “our forces are ready for comprehensive and decisive defense in the face of any threat or aggression.”
