The Media Directorate of the Lebanese Democratic Party strongly condemned the targeting of a vehicle carrying journalists on the Kfarhouna–Jezzine road, which resulted in the killing of journalists Ali Shuaib and Fatima Fattouhi. This crime constitutes a deliberate assassination of the media at the core of its role and a serious violation of all norms meant to protect those reporting facts from the field, reflecting a systematic approach to suppressing firsthand testimony.
This attack calls for clear accountability and places the concerned authorities before their responsibilities to stop the targeting of journalists and prevent them from becoming open targets.
The Directorate also extended its condolences to the families of the two martyrs and to the media community in Lebanon, affirming that what happened will not undermine the media’s right to carry out its role nor conceal the truth, no matter how intense the pressures may be.
