The European Union has called on Israel to halt its military operations in Lebanon, amid continued airstrikes and incursions into some areas of southern Lebanon, according to Agence France-Presse.
The European bloc warned against any resumption of strikes that could target Beirut’s southern suburbs, stressing the need to avoid escalation that could widen the scope of tensions in the region.
In this context, the European Union’s official spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy, Anouar El Anouni, said: "We call on Israel to halt the military escalation in Lebanon and respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity."
