The Israeli Knesset has passed a law paving the way for its dissolution and the start of preparations for the next parliamentary elections, according to Israeli media reports.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Knesset approved, in the second and third readings, the political parties financing law, which includes ending the current parliamentary term and sending the chamber into parliamentary recess starting July 17.
The decision won the support of 62 lawmakers, with no votes against or abstentions recorded, while the next elections were scheduled for October 27.
This development comes amid a tense domestic political atmosphere in Israel, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to contest the upcoming elections and seek victory in them.
