Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed during a meeting with the committee that there is currently no open negotiating track on the nuclear file, while work is underway to formulate a new mechanism related to the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
Committee spokesman Ebrahim Rezaei said, in remarks carried by IRNA, that Araghchi provided a comprehensive briefing on the Foreign Ministry’s performance during the 40-day war and the political and diplomatic developments that followed, with a focus on the negotiations file and regional and international moves.
Rezaei noted that the Iranian minister considered his country’s position on the international stage to have improved after the war, adding that “the world’s view of Iran has changed, and it is now classified as an influential regional and international power,” pointing out that Iran’s resilience in the face of major military and political pressure helped reinforce this impression despite the losses it sustained.
Rezaei also quoted Araghchi as stressing the “failure of all attempts by Iran’s adversaries to weaken it, whether through internal pressure, military moves, or support for separatist groups,” emphasizing that those policies did not achieve their intended goals.
