The Progressive Socialist Party’s Media Commission issued the following statement:
“Certain suspicious circles are deliberately taking statements by the martyred leader Kamal Jumblatt out of their historical context and republishing them in a way that serves false incitement objectives, while ignoring the historical and political circumstances surrounding that period. These parties have relied on an editorial from An-Nahar newspaper dating back to 1958, invoking the ‘Hula Plain’ incident.
In this context, former leader Walid Jumblatt clarifies that he bears no responsibility for inaccurate remarks based on unverified historical accounts regarding the lands of the Hula Plain, nor does he bear the consequences of a dispute between Kamal Jumblatt and Saeb Salam that is being revived today outside its proper context.
The historic relationship between Walid Jumblatt and the Salam family is a firmly rooted one, founded on a shared commitment to protecting Greater Lebanon, safeguarding its unity, and consolidating its Arab identity.”
