MP Mohammad Suleiman from Baabda: Restricting arms and extending state authority is the demand of the majority of اللبنانيين

MP Mohammad Suleiman, speaking on behalf of the National Moderation bloc after their meeting with the President of the Republic:

We affirmed to President Aoun our full support for every course that strengthens state-building, safeguards the supreme national interest, and preserves civil peace and national unity.

The sovereign decisions taken by the government regarding restricting arms, reclaiming the decision of war and peace, and extending the authority of the state over all Lebanese territory represent the demand of the majority of اللبنانيين, and their implementation lies at the heart of applying the law and respecting the Constitution.

We discussed with the President of the Republic the issue of a general amnesty, and we considered that it has become an urgent national necessity to turn the page on the past and open a new chapter, one defined by lifting injustice and achieving justice, because nations are built only on justice.

We reaffirmed our support for the military institution, which remains the unifying umbrella for all اللبنانيين, and we rejected dragging it into campaigns of political point-scoring or political exploitation.

We called for intensified coordination with Arab and foreign countries, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in order to end the Israeli attacks in a manner that preserves the dignity of Lebanon and the اللبنانيين.

His Excellency the President is directly following the file of negotiations and the escalation in the south, and we stand behind the state and its constitutional institutions. Any step that preserves Lebanon’s dignity, sovereignty, and civil peace has our full support.
