Nawaf Salam: I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire... it is a key Lebanese demand

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam wrote on his account on the X platform:

I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire made by President Trump. It is a key Lebanese demand that we have pursued since the first day of the war, and it was our primary objective at the Washington meeting on Tuesday. As I congratulate all Lebanese on this achievement, I pray for mercy for the martyrs who have fallen, and I affirm my solidarity with their families, with the wounded, and with the citizens who were forced to flee their cities and villages. I sincerely hope they will be able to return as soon as possible.

I can only also thank all the regional and international efforts that were made to reach this result, particularly those of the United States, France, the countries of the European Union, and all our Arab brothers, foremost among them the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
