
U.S. President Donald Trump announced, via the Truth Social platform, that he had held a series of calls he described as “very positive” with a number of Middle Eastern leaders, addressing developments in the Iranian file and a memorandum of understanding related to establishing peace in the region.
Trump said he held talks from the Oval Office at the White House with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in addition to other officials from Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain.
The U.S. president indicated that “an agreement has largely been reached” between the United States, Iran and a number of other countries, stressing that the deal is still awaiting final touches before it is officially announced soon.
Trump also revealed a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that the conversation “went well.”
He added that the ongoing discussions include the final arrangements and details of the agreement, pointing out that one of its provisions is the “opening of the Strait of Hormuz,” without providing further details.
