The Israeli army has declared a state of maximum alert in anticipation of a possible escalation with Iran, according to Israel’s Channel 12 on Saturday morning.
The channel also indicated that “Israel is closely monitoring the draft U.S.-Iran agreement and fears granting Tehran sanctions relief without addressing the nuclear file,” adding that “Israeli officials confirm there is an understanding with Washington not to allow Iran to retain uranium enrichment capabilities.”
The channel noted that “the security establishment is preparing for the possibility that U.S. President Donald Trump may decide to carry out military action against Iran in the coming days,” pointing to “Israeli assessments that the negotiations will not lead to an agreement and that the military option will be implemented.”
On the Lebanese front, it revealed that “military leaders are demanding that the political leadership settle its position between reaching an agreement with Lebanon or expanding the freedom of military action.”
