
President Joseph Aoun received a phone call from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who offered his condolences for the victims of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and expressed his solidarity with the Lebanese people at this difficult stage in their history.
He expressed Britain’s desire to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to ease the suffering of displaced Lebanese and to cooperate with Lebanon’s official humanitarian bodies in this regard.
Starmer also renewed Britain’s support for the Lebanese army under the existing cooperation program between the two countries, and informed the president of his country’s welcome for the ceasefire announced yesterday, praising the efforts made by President Aoun to achieve this goal.
President Aoun thanked Prime Minister Starmer for his positions, stressing that British support for Lebanon, and especially for its army, has a profound impact on the Lebanese people and reflects the depth of friendship between the two countries. He noted that Lebanon is entering a new phase and has an opportunity to consolidate security and stability and extend state authority over all its territory.
