President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun held a phone call before noon today with Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, during which they reviewed the situation in Lebanon and the region in light of current developments.
During the call, President Aoun expressed Lebanon’s gratitude for the solidarity shown by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the directives of the Jordanian monarch, with the Lebanese people, particularly through the aid sent by the Kingdom in successive convoys to ease the suffering of اللبنانيين who were displaced from their villages and towns as a result of the ongoing Israeli attacks.
President Aoun said that the support provided by Jordan to Lebanon in several fields also reflects the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and their brotherly peoples, ties that both nations are keen to strengthen across all sectors.
King Abdullah II thanked President Aoun for his sentiments, affirming that Jordan will always stand by Lebanon and its people, especially at this delicate stage, and support the steps Lebanon is taking to achieve security and stability and restore its sovereignty over all its territory.
The call also provided an opportunity to assess the ongoing contacts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire and finding appropriate solutions in light of the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations in Washington.
The President of the Republic also congratulated the Jordanian monarch on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, wishing him continued health and well-being, and the brotherly Jordanian people goodness and progress.
