The Al-Buqai'a crossing, known as the “Qamar Bridge,” on the northern border between Lebanon and Syria, was reopened today, Monday, to pedestrian traffic as part of an initial phase limited to travelers who meet the legal requirements in force in both countries.
The relevant authorities indicated that the date for the crossing’s full official reopening will be announced later, in coordination between the competent Lebanese and Syrian authorities.
The crossing’s operation comes after its services had been suspended since 2024, following the destruction of the bridge as a result of Israeli shelling that at the time targeted the official land crossings located on the northern border with Syria.
