Reports have revealed that the Iranian Football Federation submitted a set of conditions to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) concerning the mechanism for the Iranian national team’s participation in the World Cup finals.
This came during a meeting held between Iranian Football Federation President Mehdi Taj and FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom at the headquarters of the Turkish Football Federation, where the two sides discussed a number of organizational issues related to participation.
According to circulating reports, the Iranian demands included 10 points, most notably visa issues, guarantees for the protection of the national team delegation and supporters, as well as confirmation that the national anthem would be played correctly, in addition to a call to limit questions at press conferences to technical aspects.
Taj indicated that FIFA had listened to these demands and offered preliminary alternatives and solutions regarding them, while Grafstrom described the meeting as "fruitful and constructive," stressing that communication between the two sides would continue to follow up on the details.
