A phone call took place this afternoon between U.S. President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, during which President Aoun renewed his thanks for the efforts Trump is making to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon and to secure lasting peace and stability as a prelude to achieving the peace process in the region. He expressed the hope that these efforts would continue in order to halt the fighting as quickly as possible. Trump, in turn, voiced his support for President Aoun and for Lebanon, stressing his commitment to meeting the Lebanese request for a ceasefire as soon as possible.
