
The Secretary-General of the National Council for Scientific Research, Dr. Shadi Abdallah, announced that a number of southern villages topped the list of the hardest-hit areas in terms of the scale of destruction during the period from March 2 to May 8, amid the continued violations and attacks.
He explained that the ten most affected villages were: Khiam (Marjeyoun), Bint Jbeil, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, Kafra (Bint Jbeil), Yater, Taybeh (Marjeyoun), Srifa, Mansouri (Tyre), Habboush (Nabatieh), and Majdal سلم.
In a related context, Abdallah revealed that the total number of destroyed housing units and those fully and partially damaged during the 2023–2024 war and the subsequent violations reached 230,436 housing units, while 61,056 housing units were recorded as damaged during the period from March 2, 2026, to May 8, 2026 alone.
