
The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces — Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
"As part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crime across various Lebanese regions, particularly theft-related offenses and the arrest of their perpetrators, on 17-4-2026, a patrol from the Beirut Investigation Unit of the Beirut Police successfully apprehended a man in flagrante delicto while he was stealing a backpack belonging to a displaced person inside one of the shelters in Ard Jalloul. He was identified as:
M. A. (born in 2001, Lebanese), who is wanted pursuant to a search and investigation notice for fraud.
A search of the stolen bag led to the discovery of the following:
- Cash amounting to $5,470 US dollars
- Cash amounting to 1,600,000 Lebanese pounds
- 3.25 gold liras
- One gold ounce and 6 assorted pieces of gold jewelry.
The bag was returned to its owner, and the detainee, along with the seized items, was referred to the competent unit for the necessary legal measures, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary."
