The Axios website indicated that "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. President Donald Trump that it would be necessary to intensify Israel’s response to Hezbollah’s attacks."
While Axios cited Lebanese and Israeli officials as expressing concern over the collapse of the truce before its expiry in May, the website reported that "the United States asked Israel to exercise restraint and give diplomacy with Lebanon a chance."
It also quoted U.S. officials as saying that "Hezbollah is trying to undermine the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon and tarnish the image of the Lebanese government."
